Five dead, several injured as bus falls into gorge in Dehradun; death toll may rise

DEHRADUN: Five people died after a bus fell into a gorge in Uttarakhand's Dehradun. The accident took place this morning at Kavanu on Meenak Road in the Kalsi area. The bus lost control and fell into a deep gorge. The injured have been admitted to nearby hospitals. There are indications that the death toll may rise further.

The Himachal Roadways bus was caught in the accident. Initial reports indicate that more than 30 passengers were on board the bus at the time of the accident. SDRF teams from Dakpathar, Chakrata, Mori and Tunni reached the spot and started rescue operations. The cause of the accident is not clear. Authorities are investigating the incident.
