
JAIPUR: A 60-year-old woman was brutally murdered by thieves to steal her ornaments. The deceased has been identified as Kamala Devi, a native of Kodyai in Rajasthan. According to the police, the assailants slit her throat and severed her legs to steal her silver ankle cuffs, which reportedly weighed around two-and-a-half kilograms. The thieves also looted jewellery, including a necklace and a nose ring, collectively valued at approximately Rs 7.5 lakh.
The incident occurred when Kamala Devi went into a nearby forest to graze her goats. As she did not return home by evening, her son went searching for her and found the body, with the legs chopped off, around 3 kilometres away from the village. Police have launched an investigation, but the accused are yet to be identified or arrested. Officials noted that similar incidents involving the murder of women for their silver ankle cuffs have been reported previously from parts of Rajasthan.
