KOCHI: The special investigation team of the Karnataka Police investigating the suicide of Confident Group Chairman C J Roy will arrive in Kerala. The team that will reach Kochi and collect evidence will examine the transactions of the Confident Group in Kerala. Soon after income tax department’s raid, the special investigation team had received information that Roy sought treatment for depression at a prominent hospital in 'Jayanagar 8 Block' in Bengaluru.
In addition to financial transactions and the reasons that led to the raid by the income tax department, the reasons for seeking treatment for depression are also being investigated. His family informed the investigation team that Roy had been seeking treatment for depression for more than four months.
In the past few days, some of the projects of the Confident Group had faced setbacks. Some of the investors in these projects have also been continuously demanding their money back, putting Roy in a crisis. He had said many times that the projects are being implemented without taking loans. He does not have the habit of taking loans from banks. They will also examine how Roy found money for big projects without any of this.
Meantime, Confident Group MD T A Joseph said that Roy's death will not affect the future operations and investors need not worry. He clarified that Roy was only handling matters in Bengaluru and that he was in charge of all projects in Kerala.
'We do not have anyone's black money. There are no central investigation agencies after Confident Group. Some people are circulating false stories. Roy is being haunted even after his death. I will be in the office in Kochi from tomorrow,' Joseph said.
