'Filmed naked along with male customer, begged them to stop'; Mystery looms in Thiruvalla spa gangrape case

PATHANAMTHITTA: Mystery looms over the gang rape of a spa employee in Thiruvalla. Neither the woman nor the spa owner filed a complaint against the incident that happened on the first of February. Police said that the arrest of the two men was based on a confidential tip-off.

The incident came to light after the video of the goons harassing the employee surfaced on social media. District Police Chief R Anand confirmed allegations of a police officer’s involvement in the case. A departmental inquiry will be held. Subin Alexander (29) of Kuttu Puzha and Berlin Das (38) were arrested.

The victim said she is yet to recover physically or mentally, even days after the incident. The gang arrived at 3.30 pm on February first, demanding fifty thousand rupees. When she told them of her helplessness, the goons threatened her. They forcibly took her into a room and locked it from the inside. When she requested the gang to treat her like their sister, one of the gang members slapped her face. They bruised her neck with a knife, and the torture continued for 35 minutes.

Subin used drugs at the time of the incident. There were ten people in the group. Few among the gang told her that it was a quotation.

The victim said that it was usual for goons to visit the spa and demand money as part of extortion.

Subin threatened her of leaking her private photos if the spa owner fails to pay three lakh rupees. The victim said it was the first time that she saw Subin. When the incident happened, a male customer was in the spa. The gang roughed up the customer and forcefully took nude photos of him alongside the victim. The victim said she feared for her life, so she didn’t think about filing a complaint.
