'I am afraid of death, but have no other option, second wife and her mother are responsible for this'; youth commits suicide in Thiruvananthapuram after posting video

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In a shocking incident, a hotel owner committed suicide after posting a video on social media. The deceased has been identified as Pradeep, who ran Green Villa Gardens at Ezhacode in Vilavoorkal. He was found hanging from a ceiling hook in the car porch of his house on Sunday night after sharing the video online.

Pradeep had been running a hotel near Thachottukavu Junction for the past eight years. In the video, he said his second wife, her mother, and a man who runs a paint workshop opposite his hotel were responsible for his decision. Pradeep had remarried a few months ago after separating from his first wife.

He was living with his daughter from his first marriage and his second wife. In the video, Pradeep said he did not wish to die and was afraid of death, but felt he had no other option. He alleged that his second wife’s mother had created problems in the family.

Pradeep also said he had been undergoing treatment for the past one and a half months after suffering a leg fracture in an accident. During this period, he claimed that his wife did not support him and that he was left alone. He also revealed that he was facing heavy financial liabilities. In the video, he apologised to his father and friends. He also mentioned details about unlocking his phone and provided a list of people to whom he owed money. Malayinkeezhu Police have registered a case of unnatural death and launched an investigation.
