THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Congress has issued a warning to candidates who contest and lose in the assembly elections. AICC General Secretary KC Venugopal has warned that those who lose in the elections will not be given any other positions. "Those who lose after contesting should not think that they can become the heads of the many board corporations when the government is formed. Those who remain without contesting the elections will be given first consideration for the board and corporation heads," KC said.
The general sentiment that the selection of candidates should be based on merit alone was raised in the leadership meeting. It was also decided to complete the selection of candidates quickly in the meeting, which was also attended by central observer Sachin Pilot. After the meeting, KPCC President Sunny Joseph said that the Congress won the semi-final and will win the final as well.
Discussions were also held regarding fielding those who are interested in ending their ties with the Left and cooperating with the Congress Front and the party in the elections. It is expected that actor Prem Kumar, who is at odds with the CPM leadership, will cooperate with the Congress. The move is to field him in Kazhakoottam if that happens. In Kazhakoottam, where the CPM and BJP are directly contesting, the Congress is currently in third place. The party believes that it can make a difference if Prem Kumar is fielded here.
Similarly, A Suresh, who was expelled from the CPM, will be the UDF candidate in Malampuzha. Suresh will attend the Puthu Yuga Yatra led by VD Satheesan in Palakkad tomorrow. Meanwhile, M.V. Govindan's response was that Suresh was expelled from the party and that he would not get a single vote from the CPM in Malampuzha.
