Youth Congress’ stages protest at health minister’s residence; activists lay wreaths and wave black flags

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The youth congress staged a lightning protest against Health Minister Veena George in the incident of finding a surgical tool in the abdomen of a patient at the Alappuzha Medical College. They staged protests after barging at her official resident at Thycaud in the capital city. They laid a wreath at the door. The minister was not at home, only two cops were there.

The Youth Congress workers pushed open the gate, entered the house and then squatted in front of the door and shouted slogans. A wreath with the words 'Health Department' was placed in front of the door. The workers then came out of the house, sat outside and staged protests. There were more than 20 protesters. They shouted slogans and also waved black flags. More police arrived and forcibly removed the workers. After the protesters were arrested and removed, they left from the place. Youth Congress leaders said the strike will continue.


The Youth Congress staged protests in the incident of finding a surgical tool in the abdomen of Usha Joseph, who underwent surgery at Alappuzha Medical College in 2021. The police have registered a case in the incident. A case has been registered naming only Dr Lalithambika, the head of the gynecology department then, as the sole accused. The FIR states that she acted in a manner that was dangerous to human life and personal safety. The Ambalappuzha police have registered a case based on the complaint filed by Usha Joseph's relative.
