Perambra election: Notice issued to UDF candidate Fathima Thahiliya over communal appeal allegations

KOZHIKODE: Following a notice issued to LDF candidate T.P. Ramakrishnan in Perambra over allegations of making a communal announcement, a similar complaint has been filed against UDF candidate Fathima Thahiliya. The Returning Officer (RO) has issued a notice to Fathima Thahiliya regarding allegations that she sought votes on a communal basis.

The RO received three separate complaints against the candidate. Based on these reports, filed by three individuals yesterday, Fathima Thahiliya has been asked to provide an official explanation. This development comes as the constituency is already embroiled in a controversy regarding communal announcements allegedly made by LDF workers.

The Returning Officer stated that further action will be determined after reviewing the candidate’s explanation to establish whether a violation of election rules occurred.
