Hotel owner stabbed to death by employee in Chadayamangalam

CHADAYAMANGALAM: A hotel owner was stabbed to death by an employee in Chadayamangalam Kuriyode on Monday. Zakir Hussain (48), owner of the ‘Hotel Spicy’ operating in Kuriyode, was killed in the incident. Irshad (32) of Perimendathi House, Belthangady in Manguluru, who escaped from the scene, was arrested by the police from Mannanthala, Thiruvananthapuram.

The incident took place at 4 pm on Monday. Since the hotel was undergoing renovations, only parcels were being distributed. Irshad, a relative of Zakir Hussain, was hired to fill the vacancy left by the permanent employee who had gone back home. Irshad had previously worked at the hotel but was dismissed due to his unruly attitude.

Zakir Hussain arrived at Irshad’s room today after he failed to appear for work. An altercation followed. Zakir was stabbed with a knife by Irshad during the fight. Zakir’s wife, Shamla, who rushed to the spot hearing the screams, saw her husband lying on the floor covered in blood. Zakir was rushed to the hospital but could not be saved.

The accused, who escaped in a KSRTC bus, was caught by a team comprising Chadayamangalam SHO Kannan, SIs Dennison, Augustine, Anjitha Sreekumar, Alexander, Giri, and CPOs Ajith, Saji, Joby, and Rakesh.

Zakir Hussain's children: Faiz and Saiha. The body has been shifted to the Kadakkal Taluk Hospital morgue.
