'Can't keep track of 'zooming'; many actresses filmed in same lewd manner'

Actress Remya Panicker reacted to the negative publicity surrounding her video that went viral during Attukal Pongala. In a Facebook post, the actress said that the media breached her privacy by coming to her house, filming and then circulating it on social media.

Remya Panicker:

"Yesterday, on the occasion of Attukal Amma's Pongala, I offered Pongala at my home with my father and mother, in complete privacy. While I was happily offering Pongala, some online media workers came to my house and exchanged social pleasantries and took it as a pretext to film the happenings.

The hearth was placed on the floor, and it required concentration from my side in controlling the fire and putting the right amount of rice. At this moment, we are unaware of how the media are zooming and filming us lecherously. While being at the comfort of my house, I couldn’t care less about it.

Later, I came to notice the videos that went viral on social media and was taken aback. Not just mine, the online media cabal tried to film many actresses and artists at the Pongala in the same lewd manner. I just have a humble request to make to online media. You come to us and talk to us very generously. But don't take it as a leverage to film us vulgarly and then upload it on social media. Before uploading videos, you should ask to your conscience on whether what you are doing is right or not. It reflects your culture and professionalism.

We treated all the media friends who came to our house with respect. After taking moments from the privacy of our home and circulating it, it is unbecoming of many to teach me manners on how to dress. Those who took those videos should have shown manners."
