NEW DELHI: The Union Petroleum Ministry confirmed that two ships, including one from Russia, will arrive soon with natural gas, putting an end to the cooking gas shortage crisis. The central government claimed that domestic consumers will get the cylinder within two and a half days of booking. Meanwhile, Bharat Petroleum informed in Kochi that there is a restriction on the supply of LPG.

45 per cent of crude oil and natural gas were delivered by ships coming from countries including Qatar, which are major suppliers, via the Strait of Hormuz. 55 per cent through other sea routes. Following the West Asian crisis, the movement of goods through other routes was increased to 75 per cent.

At the same time, the crisis badly hit the hotels functioning in the country. Many are on the verge of a temporary shutdown. According to a report, more than a hundred hotels have closed in the past two days. There is also a trend of switching to induction cookers for cooking at home. KSEB is concerned that electricity consumption will skyrocket due to the sudden shift.

With the strict restrictions on the supply of cooking gas for commercial purposes, many companies have temporarily suspended booking services. Even those who visited the agencies directly had to return home disappointed.
