PATHANAMTHITTA: Babu Divakaran, former chairman of Adoor Municipality has resigned from the Congress party. He resigned from the party against the denial of seat in the Adoor constituency in the upcoming assembly elections. The resignation letter was handed over to the block congress president. Babu Divakaran alleged that the leadership is not willing to consider qualified candidates from the constituency as candidates.

There are five assembly constituencies in Pathanamthitta. The Congress is contesting in four seats in the UDF. There are public and secret differences of opinion regarding the selection of candidates here. Babu was angered as the leadership did not take sympathetic steps towards his demand for candidacy and by considering people from outside the constituency as candidates for this constituency.

Babu Divakaran had served as former district chief of Youth Congress, state general secretary of KPCC Samskarika Sahithi and DCC general secretary.
