Wedding drama turns into a brawl: Malappuram families fight over cancelled nuptials

MALAPPURAM: A violent clash broke out between two groups in Perinthattiri, Koottilangadi, after a marriage proposal was abruptly called off. The incident occurred when the relatives of a woman from Kulaparambu visited the home of a man in Perinthattiri to address the 'wedding cancellation'.

The marriage between the two individuals had been finalised only a few days prior. However, the wedding was cancelled shortly after the initial agreement. Seeking an explanation, the woman's family approached the man's relatives to complain. They alleged that the man had intentionally thwarted the marriage proceedings.

The situation escalated quickly when the man and his friends reportedly turned violent during the discussion. According to local reports, the group attacked the visiting family members while they were speaking with the man's relatives. The woman's mother and sister were among those allegedly assaulted during the confrontation.

Video footage of the physical altercation has since surfaced on social media and gone viral. Following the clash, the woman's family filed an official complaint with the Malappuram police. Authorities have now initiated a preliminary investigation into the matter, using the circulated footage to identify those involved in the attack.
