BHOPAL: Jai Singh Bhosle, the father of Kumbh Mela viral sensation Monalisa, filed a complaint stating that his daughter was kidnapped in a bid to convert her religion. Monalisa and her boyfriend, Mohammed Farman, married at the Arumanoor Nainar Deva Temple in Poovar the other day. Monalisa’s father approached Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, seeking his intervention to bring his daughter back. Monalisa is a native of Khargone in Madhya Pradesh.
Monalisa had sought refuge at the Thampanoor police station with Farman, alleging that her father was forcing her into another marriage. The police, realising the problem, summoned her father, Jai Singh Bhosle, and the film crew to the station. Jai Singh Bhosle told the police that according to the customs of their village, they do not send a girl to another community or village for marriage. The police then took legal action. Minister V Sivankutty, CPM state secretary M.V. Govindan, A. A. Rahim MP and others also attended the wedding ceremony.
Monalisa and her husband Farman, have denied the allegations of love jihad that were levelled after their marriage. In a press conference held in Thiruvananthapuram, the couple clarified that they do not have to change their religion to love and that they will remain firm in their own beliefs. Meanwhile, Hindu Jagaran Manch leaders announced that they will do everything possible to help bring Monalisa back.
