NEW DELHI: Actor and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief Vijay appeared at the CBI headquarters in Delhi for interrogation in connection with the Karur stampede. Vijay is being questioned by the CBI for the third time. He had earlier appeared before them for interrogation on January 12 and 19. He is being grilled again to clarify the statement given on that day. The CBI did not accept Vijay's request to question him in Chennai. The CBI had asked him to appear on March 10. However, it was postponed to today after Vijay expressed his inconvenience.
41 people had died in the stampede that broke out at the rally organized by Vijay's party TVK in Karur on September 27, 2025. The CBI took over the case on Supreme Court’s directive a month later. The CBI is conducting a detailed investigation into the circumstances that led to the Karur tragedy. What was the reason for reaching the venue seven hours later than planned? Why did he continue his speech despite the problems caused by the large crowd and rush? What stand did Vijay, as a party president and a superstar, take to disperse the crowd? Why did he immediately return to Chennai after the incident, the CBI is investigating all these.
