THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan justified his response to a person who raised a question during his speech. He said questions should not be asked in a public meeting and it should be asked at the press meet. The chief minister added that there are certain etiquettes that must be followed in every matter. If they are not followed, the reaction will be accordingly.

When the chief minister was delivering a speech, he told a person who interrupted him to ‘go home and ask’ the question. The remark sparked controversy, with critics alleging that the chief minister had lost his composure. Responding to this, he said there was no reason for him to lose his balance and that people have seen many times who actually does so.

‘A public meeting is not a press meet. Questions should be asked in a press conference. Will all of you come tomorrow to my public meeting and start asking questions? If you do that, the response will be the same. Isn’t that natural? A public meeting has its own decorum. Those who don’t like what is being said can choose not to listen, while those who like it can listen. That is how it works. Attempts should not be made to disrupt it,” he told the media.

The incident occurred during an election convention in Konni, where one from the audience said, ‘one question’ while the chief minister was speaking about infrastructure development in Kerala.
