THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The nomination papers of Rajeev Chandrasekhar, BJP state chief and the NDA candidate of Nemom, has been accepted. The scrutiny of his nomination papers was temporarily withheld following the complaint of congress that he failed to fully disclose his assets in the affidavit submitted. UDF candidate of Nemom K S Sabarinathan said that he would move court for accepting the nomination papers. He said that he would proceed with legal action after consulting with senior leaders and that a criminal offence had been committed. There is nothing wrong in having assets worth crores, but why is it being hidden, asked Sabarinathan. Sabari also alleged that the CPM's failure to use the golden opportunity to close the NDA account was a deal.
The UDF had raised the allegation during scrutiny that the details of his assets, including those in Karnataka, were concealed in the affidavit. Following this, it was withheld. The UDF's allegation is that Rajeev Chandrasekhar hid the details of a 49,000 square feet bungalow at Koramangala in Bengaluru.
However, Rajeev Chandrasekhar said the allegation is baseless and let the congress move the court. He also responded to the allegation of Congress. He challenged them to file a case if they have the courage, saying that this is the manner of Congress.
‘The Congress did the same in the Lok Sabha elections in 2024. The Congress lies a lot. They are 100 percent lying. They are trying to divert people's attention through this, but the people know the truth. Development should be discussed in elections and the BJP is doing that. Congress is trying to create unnecessary controversies,' clarified the BJP chief.
The affidavit says Rajeev Chandrasekhar and his wife have assets worth Rs 111.11 crore. Of this, Rajiv Chandrasekhar has assets worth Rs 93.88 crore and his wife has assets worth Rs 18.10 crore. This property is listed in the affidavit of 2024.
