Yellow alert issued as temperature rises across state

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Temperatures are rising again across the state, with several districts likely to experience intense heat. Kollam, Kottayam, and Palakkad districts are expected to record temperatures up to 38°C.

In Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Thrissur, Ernakulam, Kozhikode, and Kannur, the temperature may rise up to 37°C. In Thiruvananthapuram, Malappuram, and Kasaragod, it could reach up to 36°C. A yellow alert has been issued in these districts.

There is also a warning that the UV index will be high in Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Palakkad, and Malappuram districts. The Disaster Management Authority has advised people to avoid prolonged direct exposure to sunlight due to the increased UV levels.
