THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has alleged that opposition leader V D Satheesan has links with the RSS. The chief minister criticized him by sharing a photo of Satheesan attending the Golwalkar birth centenary celebration held in February 2006 at Manakkapady School in Paravur. The chief minister demanded that the opposition leader clarify what deal existed with the RSS at that time through a FB post.

He noted that Satheesan chose the time just before elections to pay floral tribute and light a lamp before the portrait of M S Golwalkar, who was the second Sarsanghchalak of the RSS and the longest-serving in that post. He also pointed out that in 2022, the state president of the Hindu Aikya Vedi had revealed that Satheesan sought RSS support in the 2001 and 2006 assembly elections. Satheesan has not given a clear reply on this issue so far. He said that it cannot be blamed if people suspect that the Golwalkar tribute event was an attempt to secure RSS support.

FB post
Opposition leader V D Satheesan should clarify what deal he had in attending the Golwalkar birth centenary celebrations organized by the RSS in Paravur in 2006 as the inaugural guest and lighting a lamp before Golwalkar's photo. Whenever asked about this event, he repeatedly evades the issue by referring to another program held in 2013. The people of secular Kerala have the right to know his response regarding his participation in the 2006 Golwalkar centenary celebration.

It is also important to note the timing when Satheesan chose to offer floral tribute to Golwalkar, the second and longest-serving Sarsanghchalak of the RSS. The event was held in February 2006 at Manakkapadi School in Paravur just before the assembly elections.

In 2022, the state president of Hindu Aikya Vedi revealed that Satheesan had sought RSS support in the 2001 and 2006 Assembly elections. The opposition leader has not yet given a clear response on this matter. It is therefore natural for people to suspect that the Golwalkar tribute was an attempt to secure RSS support. He should clarify now what the deal was in Paravur in 2006.
