ISLAMABAD: There is talk circling about the reasons that forced United States to reportedly remove two names from a list of leaders in Iran to be killed in the Middle East conflict. The names of Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and Parliamentary Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf were removed. It is reported that US removed the names at the insistence of Pakistan, as the country is intervening to end the war.

Israel had accurate information about the movements of Aragchi and Qalibaf. Their names were included in the hit list, but the US reportedly advised Israel to remove the names, arguing that targeting them would jeopardise diplomatic talks. However, the Pakistani military did not respond to the news.

Meanwhile, American media reports say that the names were only temporarily removed from the list for four to five days.
