Extreme heat in Kerala; Temperatures near 40 degrees Celsius, people in 12 districts should be especially careful

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The warning of high temperature continues in the state. Yellow alert has been declared in 12 districts. The temperature is likely to rise up to 38 degrees Celsius in Kollam and Palakkad. The temperature is also expected to rise up to 37 degrees Celsius in Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Kozhikode and Kannur and up to 36 degrees Celsius in Thiruvananthapuram, Malappuram and Kasaragod.

The warning says that the temperature may rise by two to three degrees Celsius above normal. The highest temperature was recorded in Palakkad yesterday. The temperature here was 39.8 degrees Celsius. This is the highest temperature recorded in the state this season. 38 degrees Celsius was recorded in Punalur.
