Residents of Lyari, Pakistan, are demanding a share of the profits from Ranveer Singh-starrer Durandhar: The Revenge. The backdrop of the movie was set around the rogue Pakistani neighbourhood of Lyari. The residents are demanding that the makers of the film give half or more of the profits to the development of their state. The locals also point out that the makers earned so much money by exploiting their city.
"If the film has earned Rs 1000 crore, then we should be given at least Rs 500 crore. Only then can the roads here be repaired. When money is earned in the name of Lyari, that money should also be used for the benefit of the same land. Therefore, the producers of the film should donate a good amount," the locals demanded.
Some locals blamed the Pakistani government for totally ignoring Lyari and leaving the land bereft of any development. The locals requested the government to put to use the amount received from the IMF. A video of the reactions of Lyari residents is going viral on social media.
