Thiruvananthapuram records highest March temperature in decades; IMD predicts rain in isolated places in state

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The capital city recorded its highest temperature for the month of March yesterday at 37.8°C. The previous March record was 37.7°C, recorded on March 16, 1988. On Monday, the temperature in the city is likely to rise further, with a maximum of around 38°C and a minimum of 25°C. While some districts and hilly areas are receiving isolated summer showers, the capital continues to experience dry weather.

Meanwhile, the highest temperature in the state was recorded in Palakkad at 38.8°C. Other places recorded high temperatures as follows: Punalur at 37.6°C, Thrissur at 36.9°C, and Kannur at 36.2°C.

Due to a high UV index of 8, an orange alert has been issued in Kottayam and Idukki. At the same time, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has said that there is a possibility of isolated thunderstorms with rain in the state until Thursday.
