ISLAMABAD: A Pakistani cleric has made serious allegations about the actions of militants operating with the support of the Pakistani establishment. Mufti Syed Khan said that militants along the Pakistan border are exploiting women.
Syed Khan, who is also a close associate of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, claimed that militants are sexually exploiting helpless women and girls living in refugee camps, even in exchange for basic food. He said that Kashmiri Muslim women are being forced into such situations, sometimes having to sell their bodies just to get a piece of bread.
According to Indian intelligence sources, this statement is proof of how militants, allegedly supported with money and weapons by the ISI, are targeting local populations. They added that the remarks support India’s long-standing claims about Pakistan’s backing of militant groups. The revelations also align with earlier reports by international human rights organisations about sexual violence and human rights violations in such regions.
