LONDON: UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer reiterated that the United Kingdom will not participate in the war being waged by the US and Israel against Iran. Keir Starmer also said that a meeting of 35 countries will be convened to resolve the crisis following the closure of Hormuz.

Following the conflict in the Middle East, there is a major crisis in the movement of fuel through the Strait of Hormuz. Intervention will be made to resolve this. Starmer added that a meeting of 35 countries will be convened by the end of this week to discuss the opening of Hormuz. He stated that the UK's Foreign Secretary will chair the discussions. Starmer explained these matters at a press conference held at Downing Street.

The UK Prime Minister said the meeting would discuss all that could be done diplomatically and politically, including restoring shipping through Hormuz and ensuring the safety of stranded ships. Asked about US President Donald Trump's comments that he was considering withdrawing the US from NATO, Starmer said that no matter what the pressure, all of his decisions will be carefully taken, considering the national interest of Britain.
