Notice issued to T P Ramakrishnan over announcement controversy in Perambra

KOZHIKODE: A notice has been issued to LDF convener and candidate for the constituency, T P Ramakrishnan, on the complaint of the UDF for his communal campaign against League candidate Fathima Thahliya in Perambra. The notice has been sent seeking an explanation on the complaint that the announcement by the Left Front is a violation of the model code of conduct. The notice was sent by the deputy collector in charge of the model code of conduct.

T P Ramakrishnan had the other day clarified that he would cooperate with the investigation into the complaint. If a mistake has been committed, would be corrected. The LDF will not seek votes by talking about communalism. The CPM is a party that believes in secularism. However, he had also said that some statements and folk expressions were misinterpreted.

K C Venugopal MP and P K Kunhalikutty had come forward over the incident. Both demanded action and said there was a similar communal campaign against Shafi Parambil in the last Lok Sabha elections. The UDF’s complaint said there was a communal campaign against Fathima Thahliya through an announcement vehicle.
