KODUNGALLUR: The tragic death of Sreenath, a 35-year-old native of Kannambra, Palakkad, has led to the arrest of a caretaker at the Anugraha Special School in Vadakke Nada, Kodungallur. Sreenath, who was autistic and the son of Prabhakaran, had been a resident at the facility since January 10. The incident came to light at approximately 6:30 am on Wednesday, April 1, when Sreenath was found motionless in his bedroom. Although he was immediately rushed to the Kodungallur Modern Hospital, medical staff confirmed that he had already passed away.

While the death was initially reported as a discovery of a body, a post-mortem examination at the Thrissur Medical College Hospital uncovered unnatural injuries that prompted a deeper investigation. Forensic experts arrived at the scene to collect evidence, leading police to question the school's staff. The investigation ultimately revealed that Sreenath had been beaten to death with a stick and by hand, sustaining fatal injuries to his internal organs.

In connection with the murder, the police arrested 24-year-old Mahesh, a native of Vettuthura, Thiruvananthapuram, who was working as a caretaker at the institution. The Anugraha Special School, which operates under a license from the Kodungallur Municipality, now faces scrutiny following the violent death of an inmate under its care.
