THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A Malayali doctor on a trip to the holy city of Varanasi went missing in the Ganga River. Dr Mohan Krishnan, a doctor at the Sasthamangalam Sri Rama Krishna Hospital, went missing while taking a holy dip in the Ganges. Dr Mohan Krishnan is a native of Muttada (G.V.R.A. 35). The hospital authorities said that the search is ongoing.

The incident took place at 5.45 am on Saturday. Mohan Krishnan reached Varanasi with his family on Thursday. His wife Nalini Kumari, son Arjun, daughter-in-law Maya and grandson Kashinath were with him.

The three, including his wife and son, entered the river holding their hands. Since the portion of the river was known for a strong current, the three of them got swept away, but Nalini Kumari and her son were saved. The search is progressing on the instructions of UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

Dr Mohankrishnan is a retired doctor of the Medical College and a member of the Kannammoola Sree Narayana Club.
