NEDUMBASSERY: A woman riding pillion on a bike died tragically after the vehicle crashed into a car on the national highway in Kochi on Monday. Purayar native Nandana Hariprasad (23), daughter of Hariprasad, died in the incident. Ashwin Antony (22), a native of Athani, was admitted to Amrita Hospital in Edappally with serious injuries.

The accident took place at 10.30 am on Monday, opposite the Tip Top Furniture Shop, between Ambattukavu and Muttom. The bike was going from Aluva to Edappally. A lorry parked on the roadside suddenly swerved to the right and hit the bike, leading the bike to lose control and ram into a car. With this, Nandana fell on the road and was fatally injured. Nandana, who was unconscious, was taken to Kalamassery Medical College, but her life could not be saved.

Nandana, an employee of Neerja Aviation Institute, had asked for a 'lift ride' on Ashwin's bike, which was going to Edappally. The lorry with registration number KL 45 E 8288 caused the accident. Nandana is the daughter of Central GST office employee Hariprasad and nurse Santhi. Nivedya is her sister. The body will be handed over to the relatives after a postmortem at Kalamassery Medical College today.
