TEHRAN: Iran has stepped forward with a new step as US President Donald Trump's ultimatum to open the Strait of Hormuz is about to end. Reports say Iran has demanded youths to form a ‘human chain’ around major power plants. Iran's Ministry of Sports and Youth has called on the country's young athletes, artists and students to form a human chain around power plants at 2 pm local time on Tuesday. Iran’s deputy of youth affairs Alireza Rahimi said in a video message that such a human chain is being formed at the request of the youth.

‘We hope that we will form human chains around power plants with the participation of young people across the country. This will be a sign of the commitment of young people to protect the country's infrastructure and build a bright future,’ he added. Iran's move comes after Trump warned that he would attack Iranian power plants, bridges and other infrastructure if Iran does not reach a deal soon or reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
