THRISSUR: An eight-year-old boy, who was sleeping with his brother died after bitten by a snake. The dead is Aljo, youngest son of Siljo of Kavungal in Thrissur's Kodali and Johnsy. His brother Anoj (10) was also bitten by the snake. He is undergoing treatment at Apollo Hospital. The snake was found under the pillow in the room where the children were sleeping.

The children developed uneasiness at around 2 am Sunday morning. The parents initially thought it might be food poisoning after drinking avocado juice before going to bed. The children were immediately admitted to a private hospital in Chalakudy. An examination conducted there revealed that they had been bitten by a snake. Signs of snakebite were also found on their bodies.

Aljo lost his life within a short time. Anoj, who is in critical condition has been shifted to Apollo Hospital in Angamaly. Later, after locals and relatives examined the room where the children were sleeping, found the snake under the pillow. The snake, which belonged to Common Krait (Shankhuvarayan) species, was beaten to death by the locals.
