THRISSUR: LDF has alleged that the BJP distributed kits to secure votes, leading to a formal complaint filed with the Election Commission. Former minister and CPI leader V.S. Sunilkumar, along with other LDF leaders, claimed that the kits were distributed from a supermarket in Olari on the instructions of a local BJP leader named Radhakrishnan. According to the LDF, approximately 50 people received these kits, which contained 18 different items.
The distribution reportedly took place this afternoon. Several women at the scene stated they had come to collect the kits as instructed by Radhakrishnan, while others mentioned being informed by their neighbours. LDF workers arrived at the location after receiving information about the activity and found the kits stored in a godown behind the supermarket.
However, the supermarket owner has denied any political connection, asserting that the kits were prepared for the upcoming Vishu festival rather than for the BJP. The owner clarified that the establishment prepares such kits to be provided to those in need during the season. For its part, the BJP has dismissed the LDF's claims, stating that the accusations are merely groundless allegations.
