Postmortem procedures begin, three bodies handed over, 23 body parts found

THRISSUR: The postmortem procedures of those who lost their lives in the explosion at the fireworks unit set up for Thrissur Pooram resumed Wednesday morning. The postmortem of five people was completed last night. The bodies of three identified were handed over to their relatives. A total of 13 have died in the explosion. Of these, eight bodies have been identified. DNA samples of the remaining ones have been collected. The forensic department said 23 body parts have been found during the search. The postmortem of 11 of these body parts has been completed. The rest will be done today.

Of the 11 people undergoing treatment, the condition of five are critical. Two of them are on ventilators. More teams from various medical colleges have reached Thrissur Medical College. The health minister informed yesterday that care for each patient will be ensured by at least three doctors.
