NEW DELHI: The takeoff of a Swiss flight was aborted after fire emerged from the engine at Indira Gandhi International Airport. Six passengers were injured in the accident. Following the fire, all passengers were evacuated from the plane and rushed to a safe place. The LX147 Airbus A330, which was scheduled to depart from Delhi for Zurich, Switzerland, went through the scare at 1.08 am on early Sunday morning.

While accelerating for takeoff on the runway, one of the plane's engines failed. Fire and smoke followed. The plane was then stopped on the runway, and passengers were evacuated using emergency slides. There were 228 passengers on board. Four of them were children.
