THIRUVANNATHAPURAM: Reacting to the tragic incident in which, a student died in the class room of Sulthan Bathery Govt Sarvajana Vocational higher secondary school due to snakebite on Thursday, Chief Minister Pinaryi Vijayan has said action will be taken against persons who have committed lapses and showed inattentiveness in the incident.

“We are viewing the incident that resulted in the death of the fifth standard student Shehla Sherin with due seriousness. It is the teachers who should be teaching the students what they should do in emergency situations and how they should react. But here, the students say that despite their pleadings, the teachers didn’t do anything to rush Shehla to hospital in time to save her life. They say that the child was taken to hospital only after the parents reached the school. Shehla Sherin’s death brings great sorrow.”
