Political observer Adv Jayashankar has taken a dig at the government as January 2 was the day when two women activists Kanaka Durga and Bindu Ammini sneaked into Sabarimala through the back entrance and claimed to have darshan of the deity.
On his Facebook page he sarcastically writes (English translation)
“Jan 2
Kerala Renaissance Day
The day when Bindu Ammini and Kanaka Durga conquered Sabarimala without Irumudi, without chanting Saranam and with the help of the police.
Now the situation is that the Supreme Court itself has apparently frozen its verdict on women’s entry. The larger bench has not taken a final decision. Still, the historical importance of Kanaka-Bindu operation is not small.
January 2 is a public holiday on account of Mannam Jayanthi. It should also be marked as Renaissance day on government calendar.”
