CHENNAI: The income tax department are still questioning actor Vijay taken into custody Wednesday evening. He was taken to his house in Chennai last evening and questioned. It is still continuing for the 17th hour. The act is part of a probe on his financial dealings with ‘Bigil’ released during Diwali. The income tax department had asked him to appear for detailed questioning and as per that the actor along with the officials reached his residence at ECR Panayur from the shooting set in Neyveli in his own vehicle.
Vijay had been facing criticism from a section in the social media for his films Mercel, Sarkar and Bigil which contained dialogues against the government.
Officials of the IT Department found Rs 65 crore during raids on a powerful financier in the Tamil film industry. The officials searched the properties of AGS Cinemas and film financier Anbu Cheliyan in Madurai.
Officials claim their probe revealed unaccounted transactions between Anbu Cheliyan and Vijay following which the actor's home on East Coast Road outside Chennai was raided.
