THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: As 5 confirmed cases of coronavirus have been reported in Pathanamthitta, the state police department has set out to control the situation by issuing warnings to the general public.

In a Facebook post, the Kerala police have asked all those who are returning from-coronavirus-hit countries to inform their travel history to the state health department. Police also warned that strict action will be taken against those who fail to do so. Neighbours have also been asked to inform any such details to the health department. "The entire society has to be cautious about the situation. Those who have returned from foreign countries must stay in their homes for 28 days and their health conditions should be observed regularly. The health department is trying its best to intensify the observation and control the situation,' the post read.

The police also took it to Facebook to inform that those people who are experiencing symptoms should avoid taking part in the Attukal Pongala that will take place on Monday. 'As the renowned Attukal Pongala is about to take place, those people with symptoms should avoid taking part in the festival. Those who have returned from affected countries have been asked to participate in the Pongala from their respective homes,' the post read.
