NEW DELHI: The Centre on Friday approved the release of Rs 5751.27 crore from the National Disaster Relief Fund as additional assistance to eight states, including Kerala, for the damage caused due to various calamities last year.
Kerala has been allotted a flood relief of Rs 460.77 crores for flood and landslides during 2019.
The decision was taken at a meeting of a high-level committee (HLC), chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
The HLC approved additional central assistance of Rs 5751.27 crore to eight states from the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF) of which Rs 953.17 crore will be given to Bihar, Rs 177.37 crore to Nagaland, Rs 179.64 crore to Odisha, Rs 1758.18 crore to Maharashtra, Rs 1119.98 crore to Rajasthan and Rs 1090.68 to Bengal for floods or landslides or cloudburst during the 2019 southwest monsoon, the statement said. Karnataka has been allotted Rs. 11.48 crore as additional assistance under Animal Husbandry sector for drought (rabi) of 2018-19.
