KOCHI: Accusing the LDF and state government of politicising the COVID-19 situation, UDF convener Benny Behanan on Thursday said that both Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and the LDF convener are trying to hide their drawbacks by lashing out at the opposition leaders. Even though all opposition parties have supported the government's efforts to contain the spread of the virus, the UDF leaders are doing their duty as an opposition party by pointing out the government's shortcomings and the areas where it needs to focus on, Behanan said.
"All the accusations put forward by the opposition leaders were based on facts and figures. The leaders have pointed out various issues such as the drawbacks of the package announced by the state government, the difficulties caused by the salary challenge and so on. There was also corruption in using the fund meant for combatting COVID-19 to clean the office of Transport Minister's private secretary. We had also pointed out the diversions of the funds that were collected for flood relief. The LDF leaders are only trying to hide these corruption charges by raising unnecessary criticisms against the opposition," Behanan said.
