COVID-19: Kerala reports 61 positive cases on Sunday; 15 recoveries

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala Health Minister KK Shailaja on Sunday informed that 61 more persons have tested positive for novel coronavirus in the state. Palakkad accounted for 12 cases, Kasargod 10, Kannur 7, Kollam and Alappuzha 6 each, Thiruvananthapuram and Pathanamthitta 4 each, Thrissur, Malappuram and Wayanad 3 each, Kozhikode 2, while Ernakulam reported one case.

Of the 61 new cases, 20 had returned from abroad (UAE-8, Kuwait-5, Oman-4, Saudi Arabia-1, Qatar-1, Maldives-1) and 37 had returned from other states (Maharashtra-20, Tamil Nadu-6, Delhi-5, Karnataka-4, Gujarat-1, Rajasthan-1). Four persons contracted the disease through contact with identified or unidentified sources.

The minister also added that 15 COVID-19 patients tested negative for the virus on Sunday. At present, 670 persons are undergoing treatment for COVID-19 at various hospitals in the state while 590 recovered. While 1,33,413 persons are in home/ institutional quarantine, 1241 persons are kept under observation in hospitals.
