Kerala reports 1420 COVID cases on Saturday, 1216 cases through contact; 1715 recoveries

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state has confirmed 1420 new COVID cases on Saturday, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said. This is the highest single-day spike of COVID positive cases recorded by the state.

Among the new cases, 1216 persons developed the disease through contact including 92 cases without an identified source of infection. 30 health workers developed the disease in the last 24 hours.

Meanwhile. 1715 patients tested negative for the virus on Saturday, the CM added.

Kasargod- 73
Thrissur- 64

The state reported 4 COVID deaths on Saturday. The deceased are Kasargod native Vinod Kumar, Kozhikode Vellikulangara native Sulaikha, Kollam native Chellappan and Alappuzha native Purushothaman.
