Kerala reports 1211 COVID cases on Sunday, 1026 cases through contact; 970 recoveries

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state has confirmed 1211 new COVID cases on Sunday, Health Minister KK Shailaja said. Among the new cases, 1026 persons developed the disease through contact including 103 cases without an identified source of infection. While 76 persons had returned from abroad, 78 returned from other states. 27 health workers developed the disease in the last 24 hours.

Meanwhile, 970 patients tested negative for the virus on Sunday, the minister added.

Palakkad- 78
Kozhikode- 69
Kasargod- 56
Ernakulam- 54
Kannur- 41

Idukki- 17

The state reported 2 COVID deaths on Sunday. The deceased are Kasargod Thrikkaripur native Abdul Khader (67) and Ernakulam Palluruthy native KV Rafi (64). With this, the number of COVID death in the state has reached 108.

As many as 12,347 people are undergoing treatment for COVID-19 in the state while 21,836 have recovered.

34 regions were identified as hotspots on Sunday and 8 were removed from the list of hotspots. There are 524 hotspots in the state.
