THRISSUR: BJP state chief K Surendran came to the fore with an allegation regarding the role of Minister E P Jayarajan’s son in the Life Mission deal. ‘The news is that the minister’s son received more than a crore in the deal. If Jaleel is removed, more people in the cabinet will also have to be removed. That is what Pinarayi fears. The chief minister and his party have been saying all these days that the probe is on the right track. But his party now says that the probe is politically motivated. The CPM who had so far supported ED's probe, is changing its stance as the probe is moving towards bigger sharks. The chief minister should clarify whether they still stick on to their old stand, Surendran said.
A daily had reported that a central investigation agency had obtained information that the son of a senior minister of the state was among the alleged shareholders of Rs 4 crore in the Life Mission project. Reports said evidence with pictures clarifying the close relationship between Swapna Suresh, main accused in the gold smuggling case and a minister’s son, was obtained and the pictures were that of a hotel room in the capital city owned by prominent film stars. Reports mentioned that the evidence is being examined and the minister's son will be summoned for questioning if more evidence is found on the deal with Swapna.
