THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Court gave bail to ministers including E P Jayarajan and K T Jaleel in the assembly brawl case. All accused have filed release petitions. Six left leaders are the accused in the case. The case will be taken up for hearing on November 12th. The bail was given after each paid a fine of Rs 35,000.
The high court has already junked the joint plea filed by the accused to cancel the verdict given by CJM court in Thiruvananthapuram over the case. The incident for the case happened in 2015 when the then finance minister K M Mani who faced serious allegations over the Bar Bribery case stood up to present the budget. His continuation as a minister and presenting the budget infuriated the left leaders in the opposition bench and they tried to disrupt the budget speech which was resisted by the MLAs and other ministers in the treasury bench, eventually ending in a brawl between the two sections.
The protest which even went to the extent of taking away the chair from the speaker’s dais led to the destruction of public property worth Rs two lakh. The trial court has earlier said that it is impossible to cancel a case which involves the destruction of public property.
