KOCHI: The customs has got court’s permission to arrest Sivasankar in the gold smuggling case. The court granted permission for his arrest after customs informed the Ernakulam sessions court that they got evidence against him in the case. The customs sought permission for the arrest after including in the category of the accused.
The high court had postponed to December 2nd considering the bail plea of Sivasankar, presently lodged in Kakkanad jail under the custody of ED. Sivasankar had argued in the court that a case has been registered against him based on the statement of Swapna Suresh, accused in the gold smuggling case.
Meantime, the customs had submitted a report in the court seeking the custody of Swapna and Sarith. The customs informed the court that the attache and the consular general had illegally gathered and smuggled dollars. The customs have sought the custody of Swapna and Sarith for four days. They will be produced in the court tomorrow. The customs had questioned Sivasankar when the ED took him into custody.
