COVID vaccine for Kerala leaves from Serum Institute, expected to reach Nedumbassery by 11 am

KOCHI: Covishield vaccine for Kerala has left from Pune based Serum Institute Wednesday morning. It will reach Nedumbassery Airport by 11 am. Go Air is carrying the vaccine to Nedumbassery.

The district collector and high officials of the health department will receive the first batch of vaccine at the airport. The vaccine will later be stored at regional stores. The second batch of vaccine will reach Thiruvananthapuram by evening. Ernakulam will receive 1,80,000 doses of vaccine, Thiruvananthapuram-1,34,000 and Kozhikode-1,19500 doses each.

Vaccination will start from Saturday. The vaccine will be carried in special vehicles to 133 vaccination centres in the state from regional stores. The vaccination will be first given to health workers. Almost 3,62,870 people have registered for the vaccination. Of that, 1,70,259 are from the government and 1,92,611 from private sectors.

There will be web casting in all centres. 100 people will be vaccinated on a day at each centre. The others who have registered will be notified later on which day they will be vaccinated.
