COVID-19: Kerala reports 5624 new cases on Friday; 5110 cases through contact, 23 deaths

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state confirmed 5624 COVID-19 cases on Friday, Health Minister KK Shailaja said. Among these, 5110 persons developed the disease through contact including 394 cases without an identified source of infection.58 persons who came from outside the state also tested positive for the virus. 62 health workers tested positive for the virus on Friday.


Meanwhile, 4603 patients tested negative for the virus today. As of now, there are 67,496 active cases in the state.

The state confirmed 23 deaths due to the virus on Friday with the toll rising to 3415.

In the last 24 hours, 62,934 samples have been tested. The test positivity rate stands at 8.94.

With the addition of 2 new regions and the removal of 3, there are 419 hotspots in the state.
