COVID-19: Kerala reports 5960 new cases on Saturday; 5403 cases through contact, 27 deaths

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state confirmed 5960 COVID-19 cases on Saturday, Health Minister KK Shailaja said. Among these, 5403 persons developed the disease through contact including 417 cases without an identified source of infection. 87 persons who came from outside the state also tested positive for the virus. 53 health workers tested positive for the virus on Saturday.


Meanwhile, 5011 patients tested negative for the virus today. As of now, there are 68,416 active cases in the state.

The state confirmed 27 deaths due to the virus on Saturday with the toll rising to 3442.

Kollam- 445

Thrissur- 421

Thiruvananthapuram- 377

Kasargod- 92

In the last 24 hours, 64,908 samples have been tested. The test positivity rate stands at 9.18.

With the addition of 2 new regions and the removal of 9, there are 412 hotspots in the state.
