The history of the Travancore royal family is always fascinating to Keralites especially for south Keralites. A major section still has the love and faith towards the descendants despite the change of monarchy and the establishment of democracy and vice versa. The presence of the royal family is seen in any matter of Thiruvananthapuram city.

Kowdiar Palace still has the fondest memories of Travancore once ruled by their ancestors. Pooyam Thirunal Gauri Parvati Bai is sharing one of her memories. She said that whenever they return from abroad they prefer to sit on the right side of the window seat. She explains the reason for it.

The happiness will be there in our minds after returning from abroad. Only coconut trees could be seen those days. Once we enter Kerala, we know that it is Kerala. The whole place looks green when we look down. While returning from abroad, we used to sit only on the right side of the window seat. It is because when the flight turns and lands in Thiruvananthapuram, we will be able see the tower of the Padmanabhaswamy Temple. When we see that, we will be filled with the joy of being back home.
